Some spammer's been trying to put linkbacks to dodgy sites, so I've disabled this feature for now!
I'm presuming its a bot, so i'll keep it disabled until I've got a workaround.
Ok, ok.... I've not been updating this!
Well, I've made a decision that i'm going to scrap the summer forecast and keep it as a Snow Report for the winter months. Snow's much more interesting, and local knowledge is essential if you want to know about the snow. I've found myself simply too busy to write it too, as I'm walking in the hills on the evenings rather than spending my time sat in a dark room typing on the PC (as now). I'm also setting up my own business (www.walkeryri.co.uk), so time's just not something i've got!
Even the best mountain forecasts don't tell you where snow is lying, and that's something I felt was particularly strong with the weather outlooks.
I'll still be doing a special Bank Holiday outlook, and some specials if we ever end up getting some exceptional weather.
And no... It's not just another excuse to whack a snow picture on here.
Has moved to Friday Nights...

The reason for this is that i'd much rather go for a mountain walk every Thursday evening than sit indoors writing on here ;-) Moel Hebog was superb tonight, but shockingly cold for a June evening.
It also allows me to be more accurate as they'll only be 24 and 48 hours ahead, rather than 48 and 72. Still doesn't mean I can guarantee a view off Snowdon though.
Oh, except for next week when i'll be doing it on the Thursday (off for a night walk over Cnicht, and should hopefully take the camera for once).
So this weekend, well, not bad as they go.
Saturday's looking cloudier of the two, but with only patchy fog that shouldn't really spoil your day. Sunday appearing as if it's going to be the best of the two. Whichever day you pick, then it's still going to feel like a fresh spring day up on the summits.
Another one from the BBC, their correspondent must have been on a Sherpa Day ticket.

Footpath erosion is a well known issue with the hills in busy areas like Snowdonia and the Lakes, so the article above is worth reading if you want a bit more insight into how difficult the job can be.
Consider some of the worst areas of erosion like the Miner's Track, Garn II and Glyder Fawr from Llyn y Cwn and you can see the mammoth task they've got. Maxi bags of rocks have become a common site in the area. You'll spot them, and think they're sheep. Only on closer inspection will you realise what they are! Last spotted maxi bag invasion? Garn NW Ridge and Devil's kitchen path.
Anyone who's travelled on the A55 won't have failed to notice the cross of trees on the hillside above Aber. Well it appears that the experiment is finally over and they're going to remove it.

Yes, as i've said before, it's just an agricultural experiment by Bangor University and not some sort of memorial cross (somewhere in the depths of the main website).
So Abergwyngregyn has lost the pub and one of its most famous landmarks.
I've heard that they're diverting the falls towards Rachub too...

Says enter a long description in here. I thought the tagline was long enough for my liking. Anyway, this is the official blog for the website Walk Eryri. If you want to write a personal (non business) blog on Snowdonia or anything you think is relevant to my site, then email and i'll give you a blogging account. I don't mind who you link to from a personal log, so long as it's relevant. If you run a business and want to promote your business via a blog, email me for rates. Spamming is not allowed!
